Summary:

The Mediterranean only exists insofar as it is told. Once upon a time, or several times, the Mediterranean existed, according to the views, stories, images and faces that make it up.

This meeting invites you to delve into the "imaginary museum of the Mediterranean", according to the fine notion once coined by André Malraux. It's an invitation to take a journey, through images and stories, based on a few key texts to be shared and a collection of visual and plastic works that help us to see and understand the uniqueness of this Mediterranean world.

Or how to set out in search of a Mediterranean lifestyle that is particularly necessary for our times, in a 21st century that is all too often disorientated.

Set course for a reinvented Mediterranean, in an era shaken by so much violence, conflict and withdrawal.

In search of a possible shared world, between the two shores...

The case for action:

Organised on a monthly basis, the "Social sciences in action" series of meetings is aimed at a wide audience. The meetings are structured around a guest researcher whose recent publication(s) shed light on an issue related to Morocco and/or current Moroccan and regional affairs. Moderated by a discussant, these meetings will take place alternately at the Centre Jacques Berque and at IF Rabat. They are backed up by the organisation of research and methodology workshops with doctoral students, in partnership with one or more Moroccan universities, the day after the public lecture.
