download

The presence of cultural and religious institutions on French soil worries the authorities, who denounce the dangers of separatism that runs counter to the values of the Republic. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's response is that France itself has developed numerous educational establishments abroad, particularly in Turkey. Rémi Carcelès, a doctoral student in political science at the University of Aix-Marseille and a lecturer at Sciences-Po Aix, analyses Turkey's desire for cultural expansion through its educational diplomacy and the government's resistance.
