Article summary:

«Although Switzerland is »a country without colonies«, it has not remained aloof from the history of European colonisation. One of its main points of entry into the colonial empires was its involvement in the missionary field. Based on the example of the Foumban Mission (SMEP) in Cameroon, this article analyses the place of medical activities and the role of women health professionals in the development of »colonial Switzerland" between the wars.
