Patricia Pacini Volpe (ed.) - University teaching in prisons: Comparative experiences in France and Italy

publication

Anyone who is deprived of their liberty as a result of a conviction cannot be deprived of the right to be a citizen. And therefore the right to study. So university should be a right for prisoners. But how is this right implemented in prisons in France and Italy? This volume is a collective work and aims to bring together contributions from French and Italian professors and researchers on the right to study at university in prisons from the main and most recent sociological perspectives.
The book presents a choral and multidisciplinary reflection on the social responsibility of the university and the modalities of teaching in prisons between identity issues and institutional ambiguities, delving into theory, research and practice, and describing the most significant experiences in comparative form between Italy and France.
