RAMONDA Thomas
Contact details
Thomas Ramonda has a doctorate in contemporary history and is a former graduate of Sciences Po Aix. His interests lie in the history of medical knowledge and the anthropology of armed conflict. In his dissertation, completed at the Mesopolhis laboratory under the supervision of Walter Bruyère-Ostells, he explored the issues surrounding the medical treatment of Napoleonic soldiers wounded in the Iberian Peninsula between 1808 and 1814. His work examines the way in which insurrectionary armed conflicts affected the health of combatants, linking different levels of analysis: from individual experiences of war, injury and care, to the circulation of medical knowledge and the administration of the Napoleonic system. At the same time, it examines the way in which the production of medical knowledge in the context of insurrection also proved to be a tool of domination for an empire. He also uses mapping tools and quantitative data analysis to explore the contexts of military occupation and insurrection. In addition to his research work, Thomas has also taught at Sciences Po Aix-en-Provence, where he has led courses on French and European history. He has also published articles in peer-reviewed journals and participated in several international conferences.
