Under the metropolis... observing the unequal city

Set against the editorial project Sociology of Aix-en-Provence (Repères series, La Découverte), the seminar "Aix Studies: The city as a field of research for the social sciences". aims to provide a forum for meetings and exchanges on contemporary urban research in sociology and political science.

With the aim of grasping the various dynamics (social, economic, political, residential, educational, cultural, ecological, security, etc.) that structure urban areas, the seminar aims to take stock of and work on the points of observation and methodologies used in the sociology of cities.

We will be honoured to welcome Fabien DESAGE and Cécile VIGNALmembers of the DEGEYTER collective and co-authors of Sociology of Lille (La Découverte, Collection "Repères", 2017), who will look back at the scientific and editorial production of the book.

From 2 to 4 p.m., group work sessions on the editorial project Sociology of Aix-en-Provence are also being organised (sessions not open to the public).
