To mark the forthcoming publication of the book Knowledge and power (Savoirs/pouvoirs collection, PUQ, out 8 October 2025, https://www.puq.ca/catalogue/livres/savoir-pouvoir-5184.html), we are delighted to welcome our colleague Sylvain Lefèvre.
This seminar will be an opportunity to extend the discussions begun in June 2025 during the MESOPOLHIS Days with the carte blanche devoted to transformations in higher education and what they reveal about the reshaping of the relationship between knowledge and power.

Speaker
Sylvain Lefèvre is a doctor in political science and a professor in the Department of Strategy, Social and Environmental Responsibility at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
His research focuses on philanthropy and the role of foundations.
He is the author of NGOs & Co. Mobilising people, mobilising money (Puf, 2011).
About the book
Coordinated by Sylvain A. Lefèvre, Annie Camus and Sonia Tello-Rozas, Knowledge and power looks at how knowledge is created and how it can be co-constructed in a context marked by epistemic injustices, disciplinary restructuring and the rise of partnership research.
The book focuses on three main areas:
- Shifting academic boundaries (epistemic justice, university/territory partnerships, decolonisation of knowledge, etc.)
- Empowering discriminated populations through the co-production of knowledge (ecology, health, poverty, indigenous research, social incubators)
- Co-constructing knowledge to transform social relations
