File coordinated by Soraya Laribi and Benoît Pouget. Death in a colonial situation. (2024). Overseas, (424-425), https://shs.cairn.info/revue-outre-mers-2024-3-4?lang=fr.
Presentation:
This issue is devoted to death in colonial situations - whether ordinary, violent, social or symbolic. The dossier coordinated by Soraya Laribi and Benoît Pouget focuses more specifically on the administration of violent death in the French colonial empire and its zones of influence. The contributions focus in particular on the material/corporal aspects of violent death (the management of corpses, from sorting to burial, sometimes after summary forensic examination, and the ceremonies that ensued) as well as its symbolic dimensions, evoking the erasure of victims' traces. Soraya Laribi and Benoît Pouget contributed to this issue's dossier.
