This volume brings together the work developed around the "New Mobilities and Trans-Mediterranean Migrations" conference held in Padua on 4 and 5 November 2022. The conference brought together a number of Italian and French specialists in migration studies, focusing in particular on the study of human movements across the Mediterranean. Both in the past and in the present, the Mediterranean is criss-crossed by discontinuous flows and multidirectional movements that feed complex social and symbolic stratifications on a transnational scale. Given the centrality of the Mediterranean basin to French and Italian studies, our aim with this volume is to renew the dialogue between the two research traditions around the Mediterranean.
