"This book is the result of an immersive investigation into a participatory creative project: teenagers from contrasting social backgrounds were invited to take part in the creation of a theatre show at a national theatre. The sociologist's contribution is intended to take a distanced look at an adventure underpinned by a number of societal issues, with social diversity and cultural democratisation at the forefront.
Semi-participant observation of workshops, rehearsals and courses provides an ideal opportunity to question the social ins and outs of the practice of acting and, at the same time, to explore the ways in which the sacred appears in the artistic enterprise. The survey is supplemented by biographical interviews that shed light on the socialisation process of the young people from a cultural perspective.
