"Teresa Margolles' work examines the social causes and consequences of violence. For her, the morgue is an accurate reflection of society, particularly that of her home country where deaths caused by drug-related crime, poverty, political crisis and inept government response have devastated communities. Teresa Margolles has developed a unique and discreet language to speak on behalf of these silenced subjects, whose victims are seen as 'collateral damage' of the conflict."
