Based on chapters rooted in rich and lively field research, this book analyses the ways in which people relate to the political and build their own relationships in the time and space of their exile. It deals with exiles of different nationalities - Venezuelans, Chinese, Sudanese, Tunisians, Syrians, Russians, Kurds and Egyptians - as well as a wide range of European and non-European places of anchorage and passage. This book bears witness to their modes of commitment, resistance and mobilisation, and provides an insight into the many forms of politicisation and struggle in exile.

Marie Bassi is a lecturer in political science at the Université Côte d'Azur. Pauline Brücker is a lecturer in political science at the University of Rouen Normandie. Olivier Clochard is a cartographer, geographer and CNRS research fellow (Migrinter). Hélène Le Bail is a CNRS research fellow at the Centre de recherches internationales (Ceri) at Sciences Po Paris. Clara Lecadet is an anthropologist and CNRS research fellow at the Political Anthropology Laboratory (LAP).
