    DEMOMED - Mediterranean Demographic Observatory

The Mediterranean Demographic Observatory (DEMOMED) is a fundamental science platform of Aix-Marseille University specialising in demography. The platform carries out activities in the field of population by combining statistical, geographical and sociological expertise. Researchers have been studying demographic ageing, spatial growth dynamics, family demography, etc. for more than twenty years, with international collaborations and a multidisciplinary approach.

The platform is located in Aix-en-Provence, at the Maison méditerranéenne des Sciences de l'Homme (MMSH), in the Jas de Bouffan district. The observatory is a specific programme of the Maison méditerranéenne des Sciences de l'Homme (UAR 3125 MMSH) attached to UMR 7064 MESOPOLHIS (Mediterranean centre for sociology, political science and history).

Observatory of cultural audiences and practices

The creation of theObservatory of cultural audiences and practicesaims to meet the growing demand for audience research and knowledge of practices in all areas of culture (scientific, artistic, digital, historical, media, sports, corporate, etc.).

The creation of this quantitative, qualitative, exploratory and interdisciplinary evaluation system, designed and developed by specialists in the field (teacher-researchers, doctoral students, post-doctoral students, engineers, etc.) in conjunction with training (through internships and project-based approaches), responds to the need to understand, describe and also evaluate accessibility to the arts and culture in ways other than through impact measurements.

By proposing to combine scientific rigour and high standards with professional expertise in terms of survey methodology and analysis, the Observatory lies at the interface between scientific research and the worlds of culture, favouring collaborative work with partners and the production of tailored and territorialised studies.
