Speakers Elise Ho-Pun-Cheung (Associate Researcher at MESOPOLHIS) and Samuel Goëta (Researcher at MESOPOLHIS)

The speakers will present an article currently being written. This article deals with the development of a French data standard defining the fields and values describing digital mediation venues. The aim of this project was to facilitate the identification of these venues, in order to gain a better understanding of the digital mediation offer on a national scale. The article is based on a year's participatory research, during which we accompanied the design of the standard, working with data producers and users. We highlight the invisible work that goes on before data is standardised, and examine the participatory issues raised by this type of approach. The text defends the idea that the creation of a standard is a sensitive step in structuring a little formalised sector of public action. It redefines this sector through compromises between the players concerned in arenas that are less visible and less subject to the procedural imperatives of consultation.
