What does it mean to be a man today? The post-modern society in which we live has shaken up the place of men and the way they interact with women in all their roles, as spouses, parents, professionals, etc. Masculinity seemed to be taken for granted, but in recent decades we have seen the limits of this model of sexual identity and the shift towards a new identity for men, offering greater harmony between the sexes, even if its contours are still uncertain.

During this study day, we will be drawing on various disciplines in the human and social sciences - sociology, psychology, psychoanalysis and sexology - to explore the tensions, paradoxes and, ultimately, the different facets of man today, challenging many of our traditional models of thought.

After #MeToo, on gender fluidity, how can you still be a man today? What does it mean to be a father? Do we need a new masculinity?

The study day invites researchers from different backgrounds to combine their views and explore the idea of masculinity. Do we need to reinvent a new, plural masculinity, free of the dust of domination? What does research have to say on the subject?

The aim is to explore the different facets of the human being from a social, political, cultural and sexual point of view, in a creative dimension. The day is open to anyone interested in this subject, including researchers, students and social workers.
