The aim of this project is to set up an international interdisciplinary research network to bring together teams working on school-family-neighbourhood relations in three cities in countries with contrasting characteristics: Marseille (France), Fortaleza (Brazil) and Sherbrooke (Canada).

The central idea is to approach school issues from a broader perspective, taking into account not only the school and its players (teachers, pupils, administrative staff), but also families (parents, brothers and sisters, extended family) and the neighbourhood (associations, third places, urban dynamics, etc.). This is particularly true in working-class neighbourhoods, where pupils are more likely than others to be at a disadvantage when it comes to learning.

The aim is to produce comparative studies on the three areas involved in the network and to respond to international calls for projects on these issues.
