Special session - Sociology in search of an images

Hosted by : Philippe ALDRIN, Pascal CESARO and Cyriac GOUSSET

How can comics and social sciences be combined to write/describe the social world? What are the issues involved in transferring social science work to/through images ('mise en cases' or graphic novels)? These are just some of the questions that will be discussed at the meeting organised around Pascal GÉNOTscriptwriter of the book Bourdieu: an Algerian survey (drawing byOlivier THOMASSteinkis, 2023).

With the participation of : Jérôme BERTHAUTauthor of La banlieue du "20 hours"(Agone, 2013), adapted as a comic strip, and part of the Sociorama collection; and Émilie DAVIDan illustrator who is working on a comic book adaptation of a work by Jean LAGANE (to be confirmed).
