Study day organised by Alexandre Grondeau with the participation of Claire Benit-Gbaffou
30 September 2022 from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
Location: Salle Georges Duby - MMSH, Aix-en-Provence
Organising group : 3.2 - The making of Mediterranean cities: models and standards in circulation and practice, 18th to 21st centuries

Over the last twenty years, a series of social, economic, identity, technological, environmental and now health and geopolitical crises has profoundly transformed the way cities are designed and produced. The limits of metropolisation, local governance and urban neo-liberalism mean that we need to find effective and efficient alternatives. These alternative perspectives can be found in new ways of looking at the classic metropolitan functions of transport, housing, government and the environment. At the same time, the emergence and affirmation of social and solidarity-based economies and the circular economy represent new challenges for the development and planning of our cities. This study day will address all these issues from a multidisciplinary and operational perspective.
