Presentation:

Born of the desire to extend the reflections shared during a rich study day held at the MMSH in June 2024, this dossier proposes to approach contemporary Algeria from its margins - territorial, social, linguistic, memorial or political - by focusing on the ways in which identities are recomposed, power relationships are lived out and experiences of subalternity unfold. The contributions combine fieldwork, historical, geographical, sociological and anthropological analyses, and draw on a wide range of materials (archives, ethnographies, biographical accounts, literature, the arts, film analysis, etc.).
