CNRS 2026 Competition - Support for MESOPOLHIS

Hello everyone,

Applicants for the 2026 CNRS competitive examinations (sections 35, 39, 42 and 43) may request support from the Centre méditerranéen de sociologie, de science politique et d'histoire d'Aix-en-Provence (MESOPOLHIS, UMR 7064, AMU, CNRS, Science Po Aix). The MESOPOLHIS laboratory is a multidisciplinary social science unit organised around 6 main areas and 2 cross-disciplinary areas (https://mesopolhis.fr/axes-de-recherche/) :

  • Socialisation, education and culture (led by Nathalie Chapon and Heri Rakoto-Raharimanana)
  • Migration, mobility and circulation (led by Marc Bernardot, Théotime Chabre and Sylvie Mazzella)
  • Religion and politics in the contemporary world (led by Alix Philippon)
  • Socio-spatial dynamics and political mobilisation (led by Cesare Mattina)
  • Contemporary violence, crises and conflict (moderated by Benoît Pouget)
  • Norms, deviance and governing knowledge (moderated by Audrey Freyermuth)
  • Images and social sciences (moderated by Philippe Aldrin and Pierre Fournier)
  • Urban studies (led by Claire Bénit)

MESOPOLHIS invites candidates wishing to apply for its support for the 2026 CNRS competition campaign, in sections 35 (Modern and contemporary worlds), 39 (Sociology and legal sciences), 42 (Spaces, territories, societies) and 43 (Politics, power and organisation), to send their project to the following address before 17 November 2025 to the following address mesopolhis-gestionnaire[at]univ-amu.fr.

The application must be sent as a single PDF document and must include the following documents: 

  • CV
  • CNRS research project as it stands
  • Number of section(s) concerned
  • Motivation letter justifying the request for MESOPOLHIS support in relation to the laboratory's research areas

Following the application review phase, members of the laboratory will provide support and personalised guidance to successful applicants between mid-December and the application deadline.
