Le MESOPOLHIS a le plaisir d’accueillir Iryna Sikorska du 1er au 28 septembre 2025, dans le cadre de l’OPEN COST Action (www.opencostaction.eu).

Iryna Sikorska est titulaire d’un doctorat en administration publique (2007) et en sociologie (2023). Elle est professeure agrégée au département d’études culturelles de l’université d’État de Marioupol (Kiev, Ukraine). Elle est également fondatrice et présidente de l’Association ukrainienne des professeurs et chercheurs en intégration européenne (aprei.com.ua).

Elle est accueillie dans le cadre de l’OPEN COST Action (www.opencostaction.eu), en collaboration avec Dorota Dakowska.

Son projet de recherche « Réimaginer l’ouverture académique comme instrument stratégique et éthique de résilience et de construction de la démocratie » vise à étudier comment la guerre en Ukraine et la réponse européenne à celle-ci remodèlent les principes et les infrastructures de la collaboration académique. L’objectif de cette recherche répond au besoin urgent de repenser le rôle de la production de connaissances et de la coopération universitaire en période d’incertitude géopolitique et face aux défis plus larges auxquels l’Europe est confrontée.

Au MESOPOLHIS, Iryna Sikorska a l’intention d’approfondir et d’affiner ses recherches en s’ouvrant à de nouvelles perspectives, méthodologies et dialogues interdisciplinaires. L’accent mis sur les approches transnationales, historiques et empiriques constitue un environnement idéal pour cette recherche.

Dr. Iryna Sikorska holds PhD in Public Administration (2007) and in Sociology (2023). She is an Associate Professor of the Department of Cultural Studies of Mariupol State University (Kyiv, Ukraine). She is also a founder and chairperson of Ukrainian Association of Professors and Researchers of European Integration (aprei.com.ua).

From September 1 to 28, 2025 she is a visiting researcher at MESOPOLHIS, as part of the the OPEN COST Action (www.opencostaction.eu), in collaboration with Dorota Dakowska.

Her research project “Reimagining Academic Openness as a Strategic and Ethical Instrument of Resilience and Democracy Building” aims to investigate how the war in Ukraine and the European response to it, is reshaping the principles and infrastructures of academic collaboration. The research goal responds to the urgent need to rethink the role of knowledge production and academic cooperation in times of geopolitical uncertainty, and broader challenges facing Europe.

During her stay at MESOPOLHIS, Dr. Sikorska intends to deepen and refine her research by engaging with new perspectives, methodologies, and interdisciplinary dialogue. The focus on transnational, historical, and empirically grounded approaches can be an ideal environment for this inquiry.
