Dictionary summary :

What does Latin America have to say to the social sciences? This dictionary summarises the notions and concepts commonly used to describe politics in Latin America. In so doing, it revisits major themes in the humanities and social sciences in the light of works that are little known outside Latin Americanist circles, yet are fundamental to understanding certain current debates. Written by a wide range of authors who share a detailed knowledge of the field, the notes show that the scientific knowledge produced in and around the 'South' is just as general as that produced in and around the countries of the North, and that it is of undoubted fruitfulness for thinking about politics in general. This Political dictionary of Latin America is aimed at students, teachers and researchers in the humanities and social sciences, and at all those who wish to grasp a wide range of approaches from a comparative perspective. It is a tool to help us think about politics and its most contemporary transformations, both here and elsewhere.
