"Intense violence shook the Israeli-Palestinian region in the spring of 2021. While Jerusalem is often considered to be the epicentre of the conflict, the sequence revealed the cardinal importance of another, lesser-known area, but one that is also highly symbolic: the "mixed" cities of Jaffa and Lod/al-Lydd. Living relics of the 1948 war, they illustrate the often painful palimpsest that is the Israeli-Palestinian space.
