Revisiting the sociological work of Pierre Bourdieu« research workshop» coordinated by Philippe ALDRIN and Cyriac GOUSSET
The workshop brings together researchers who have been invited to look back at their own sociological approach, and to share and discuss their relationship with Pierre Bourdieu's relational sociology, whether to think with it, extend the analyses they have sketched out or discuss unexplored dimensions.
What role does the body play in ordering dispositions and classifying differences in the social world? As the medium of social representations, the object of specialised knowledge and the operator of practices, the body is a «socialised body» in many ways.
The «Body politics and the sociology of classifications» seminar brings together researchers who study socialisation through/of bodies, the work of making, legitimising or contesting the categorisations attached to bodies, and the relationships involved in the processes of incorporation, particularly within institutions responsible for education, care and selection.
The aim is to explore how the physicality of bodies - those of biological individuals as well as those of the institutions that care for them - materialise and perforate the social order.
For its second edition, the research workshop will take the form of 2 study days which will examine, from complementary angles, the recomposition of relationships between bodies, institutions and classificatory provisions:
With Maxime BEHAR, Valentin BEHR, Olivia CHAMBARD, Baptiste GIRAUD and Frédéric LEBARON.
Discussion led by Philippe ALDRIN, Cyriac GOUSSET (UTOPI - UMR5311) and Magali NONJON.
