Presentation of Meetings

Inaugurated in Sfax (Tunisia) in 2022, The Sociological meetings look forward to seeing you in Bergamo, Italy, from 29 June to 2 July 2026 for their second edition.

Unlike the AISLF congresses, which focus on a general theme, the Meetings, The conferences, which are reserved for AISLF members, are based on the initiatives of the Research Committees and Working Groups (RCs and WGs), which decide on the format of their participation (colloquium, round table, workshop, working meeting or other). The RCs and WGs are thus free to launch a call for papers within their networks and to prepare themed sessions, to plan round tables on a particular subject and/or to propose the holding of a workshop on a practical research problem.

The Sociological meetings are first and foremost a forum for debate and exchange on and around the discipline. In Bergamo, they will be an opportunity to (re)discover the Italian sociological tradition and its particular history, but also to share its current issues and challenges. Although Italy is not a member of the French-speaking world, the issue of the language in which knowledge is produced and disseminated is undoubtedly one that Italian, French-speaking and French-speaking sociologists share.

A forum for dialogue and debate, the Sociological meetings also wants to open up to Italian civil society by offering local associations the opportunity to speak on environmental issues and political democracy. The discussions will provide an opportunity to compare our sociological approach with their expertise.

Last but not least, the AISLF's doctoral students and junior researchers will have an important role to play, particularly in learning practical skills that are rarely taught at university. So, at the initiative of Rédoc and a number of CRs and WGs, workshops are planned, as well as self-service tables to answer practical questions such as the conditions for a post-doc, obtaining an internship or a grant, funding a thesis, the procedures for supervising a thesis, the steps involved in publishing a first article, etc.).

We invite the correspondents and heads of the CRs and WGs to take advantage of this new AISLF event to mobilise their networks and offer to organise sessions and/or workshops.

We are counting on your participation to ensure that the IIe Sociological meetings in Bergamo were a resounding success!
