The dossier coordinated by Soraya Laribi and Beno\u00eet Pouget focuses more specifically on the administration of violent death in the French colonial empire and its zones of influence. The contributions focus in particular on the material\/corporal aspects of violent death (the management of corpses, from sorting to burial, sometimes after summary forensic examination, and the ceremonies that ensued) as well as its symbolic dimensions, evoking the erasure of victims' traces.
