Int\u00e9gr\u00e9e aux politiques de contre-terrorisme mises en \u0153uvre dans de multiples pays du monde arabe et musulman et au-del\u00e0, en Occident, cette tradition islamique a pu incarner un \u00ab autre \u00bb islam capable de faire barrage aux d\u00e9fis mortif\u00e8res pos\u00e9s par le salafisme jihadiste. Comme cat\u00e9gorie id\u00e9alis\u00e9e de l\u2019action publique et \u00ab sublime objet d\u2019id\u00e9ologie \u00bb, le soufisme a pu \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 par des acteurs \u00e9tatiques et non \u00e9tatiques pour exercer une force de persuasion et une influence au niveau global, mais \u00e9galement pour faire bouger les lignes des champs politiques nationaux. Ces processus complexes op\u00e9rant sur plusieurs \u00e9chelles imbriqu\u00e9es \u00e9clairent l\u2019importance de la variable religieuse dans les relations entre \u00c9tat et soci\u00e9t\u00e9, et au-del\u00e0 dans les relations internationales et la diplomatie. Ces repr\u00e9sentations sublim\u00e9es du soufisme, comme islam salvateur d\u2019un monde musulman gangr\u00e9n\u00e9 par la violence, ne doivent cependant pas occulter quelques caract\u00e9ristiques socio-politiques communes \u00e0 de nombreux \u00c9tats post-coloniaux : les h\u00e9ritiers de cette tradition, descendants de lign\u00e9es spirituelles et gardiens des sanctuaires soufis, sont souvent des hommes politiques pragmatiques, mobilis\u00e9s aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de grands partis de gouvernement et guid\u00e9s par la d\u00e9fense de leurs int\u00e9r\u00eats bien compris.
