The research programme team PROTEUS<\/strong> (PROspective InterdisciplinaryThinking on TErritorial USes and Risk Anticipation in the Mediterranean<\/em>)<\/mark><\/a> invites you to take part in a study day in the human and social sciences (SHS) on the following theme: \"Extreme fires in the Mediterranean: what prevention strategies are needed?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every summer now, the Mediterranean region is hit by extreme forest fires, which are becoming increasingly intense and widespread. Almost the entire Mediterranean region is affected by these fires, which challenge our fire-fighting and response capabilities. How can we deal with this potentially uncontrollable risk? What strategies can be put in place to prevent this risk and avoid the worst?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To answer these questions, the PROTEUS project team <\/em>is organising a study day where researchers and professionals are invited to share their knowledge and experience. Three main types of prevention strategy will be discussed in the form of round-table discussions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  2. Governance (institutional reform, regulation)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Risk culture\" and mediation strategies for forest fire risks<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
