The AMIPOL project brings together different analytical perspectives in order to renew approaches to migration by studying its politicisation and media coverage in an international context marked by Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, which has triggered a wave of displacement unprecedented since the Second World War.

It brings together a team of French, Polish and Ukrainian researchers – specialists in migration and security policies, as well as in the fields of politics and the media – from various social science disciplines (political science, sociology, economics), who analyse the Polish and French contexts from a comparative and European perspective. The team comprises established researchers and PhD students from several institutions (Sciences Po Aix, EHESS, Sciences Po Paris, the University of Bordeaux, the Sorbonne Nouvelle University, the University of Warsaw and the Warsaw School of Economics). Through study days and bilateral meetings, the team will focus on two main themes:

1. Media coverage of migration against a backdrop of political polarisation; ;
2. The practices of constructing the border: between inclusion and exclusion.
