Summary:

This article examines how the mobilisation of emotions can be fully integrated into the repertoire of collective protest actions. In order to do this, the analysis must pay close attention to the way in which the use of emotions, far from being limited to impulsive and disruptive actions, is based on tactical know-how accumulated within militant organisations. An investigation into one of the first French climate disputes clearly highlights the complementary nature of emotions and the formalisation of expertise when it comes to constraining power by combining the gathering of a large number of supporters with recourse to the law.
